Three Things I Learned with My First Horse

When I started working with horses, my whole perspective about life changed. My view of life went from seeing the rushed and fast-paced days to slower, more present days.

My first horse, Splash, was a rescued Tennessee Walking horse. He was a great beginner horse and one that I have many, many fond and not so fond memories. I grew into a horsewoman with him. We often see and hear all of the things that we can teach or do with horses, but it's the things they teach us as we work together that creates the greatest lessons.

Among the many things that I learned, there's three things that stand out most from my early days on the horse farm.

1. Communication Matters - Body Language speaks more than words

2. Patient Friendship - Always be ready to listen and don't rush relationships

3. Graceful Leadership - Strength is found in doing good for the other

There is no end to the lessons we can learn from horses, and I plan to grow with them every chance I have!
