Author BiographyI’m a small-town girl from Maryland who writes inspirational stories of love, loyalty, and friendship. You can always count on timeless stories filled with lovely country settings, endearing small towns, memorable characters, encouraging faith journeys, and heartwarming romance ~ all with a sprinkle of humor, a lovable animal companions or two, and the classic Irish spirit.
I enjoy horseback riding through the countryside, Irish ceili dancing, afternoon tea time, Jane Austen, and writing letters. I’m a novice seamstress and knitter who is learning the ways of weaving together natural fabrics and thread. The process is both an immense joy and a labor of love, as good things often are.
And speaking of joy, writing brings so much joy to my heart! I grew up with an incredible love for animals, which led me to a career as a life scientist and science educator. In 2018, I founded Spirit of Love, an animal-assisted learning and wellness program. Animals always find their way into my stories, bringing an added dose of humor (and undeniable adorableness) to the tale.
I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from SNHU and love writing both inspirational fiction and creative nonfiction. I am a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), the Catholic Writer’s Guild (CWG), and the Faith, Hope, & Love Christian Writers (FHLCW).
I hope to always share Jesus’ love through my words, inspiring readers to find unconditional love, faith, and beauty in the adventures that greet us each day.
Why Irish storytelling is so special to me...It’s the people.
A culture rooted in oral traditions and lyrical songs.
For me, it all began when I was a young child sitting at my grandfather’s feet while he told me stories that became engrained in my memory. I would run upstairs to my grandparent’s room in our home and ask him to read a book or tell me a story. I didn’t always understand the stories, as I was early on in elementary school, but I felt the emotion in his words. Because true storytelling is not just the words spoken or written on paper, but the emotions the story invokes. It’s the way your mind grows and your heart expands.
My heart beat with a love for stories that continues to this day.
If you’ve ever listened to an Irish man tell a story, you know he doesn’t skimp on words or expressions. And my grandfather was a grand ol’ storyteller. I did not have much time with my grandfather as he passed away when I was still a child, but these times are the memories that have stayed with me over the years. They are the memories that fueled my love of my heritage.
My visits to Ireland over the years have always felt like a homecoming.
My time in Ireland inspired me to tell stories that matter.
To write the words that bring to life the uplifting humor, unconditional love, and enduring faith of the Emerald Isle.
AboutMy Writing...What I promise you now and always
The stories I write are from my heart and the workings of my hands. They result from continual prayer, years of dedicated story planning, and seemingly endless handwritten pages to finally become the books I share. My readers can always rest assure knowing that every idea and piece of writing I pen comes from my heart to spread God’s love through my words.
I hope you enjoy my stories and that they make your heart smile!
Love & Blessings,
Colleen Marie
